Thomas C. Manning has practiced criminal defense law for 31 years. Prior to private practice, he served as Law Clerk to the Chief U. S. District Judge for the Eastern District of North Carolina, and then as a federal prosecutor in the United States Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District for several years. His vast experience includes the perspective of the judiciary, prosecution and defense, enabling him to form strategies for negotiation and litigation with prosecutors, and persuasion and trial strategy in dealing with state and federal courts.
Tom Manning has handled more than 50 first-degree murder cases, and has tried more than 20 to verdict. He has tried more than 150 cases to verdict in state and federal cases in his career, many of which involved high-profile defendants and involved complex criminal law issues.
